The downloads and updates push through, there's a restart and a firmware/BIOS update for a few things, then when it got back into Windows, the audio was recognized. Nothing I could see that was audio hardware or driver related, but it had a big 'download and update' button. To fix audio output errors using Command Prompt, follow these steps: Open Start menu, type cmd and right-click Command Prompt from the list and run as administrator. I ran it and it identified some BIOS/firmware updates for wifi, bluetooth, etc. The problem is no audio input device found. When I my computer started again, it still had the problem.

I gave in and found the Dell Support Center thing with the full 'optimize/update' sequence wizard. I tried all of this, and even installed the drivers from acers driver site. But for this, I went through and device manager saw you new hardware, update drivers showed nothing new on all of the recognized hardware, and Waves Maxxaudio was enabled on startup but the audio hardware wasn't being recognized even after two restart cycles. Yesterday my laptop was on sleep for about 2 hours, later when I opened it, the volume symbol on the left at the taskbar had a red cross along side it which showed no audio output device installed. I'm an IT guy who did break/fix up until 2012, and I have a 'I don't need no stinking wizard' mindset when it comes to fixing software issues. No Audio Output Device Installed I have InspiWindows 10 64 bit. I knew the audio driver required to be running was Waves Maxxaudio, so I tried running it. Today it mandated a Windows 10 update when I came into the office and booted it up the first time in a week or so (today is ). It came with windows 10 back in August-ish when I ordered it online. I have a Dell G5 15 5587, the i7/16GB RAM/GTX 1060 model. Please let me know if someone had similar issue this month and has fixed it. Now I can listen audio only via headphoes but not volumes. This time I forgot that and headphones were on when BIOS was updated. Years ago when I updated BIOS manually I remember that it was advised not to have for example headphones connected to the computer.

There was also new software installed by update Maxx AudioPro which I was suprised to find because I was not asked if I want to install it. However since beginning of February I have issues with volumes after BIOS update.

Since than I have run at least two BIOS updates (triggered by updates automatically, not manual ones) and all was fine.
